Question
from Harry from Orlando, Florida: Dear Captain Cy,
I think your enhanced podcast with all the photos really adds to the show. Well done! I love the coffee, cognac and cigars segment. I have 2 questions, can you tell me what your favorite cognac is and would you please tell me about the rating system of cognac, i.e. vsop, etc?
PS. Are you really an airline pilot?
Answer: Harry,
That's three questions. Yes I worked for over 35 years as an airline pilot for a major airline. Now I am working full time on my show and enjoying the good-life. My favorite cognac is the one I'm drinking at the time. Sounds like a cop-out, but it's true. I like the cognac mentioned on the Low Country podcast. Check it out. Now how does the rating system work for cognac? Here's cognac 101:
Rating Cognac
VS
A cognac whose character is stamped by distillates older than is required by law. * A very ripe VS with a spicy floral bouquet, bitter notes, and plums , coca and cinnamon, quite sweet to the taste, yet harmonious and with an impetuous strength.
VSOP
The youngest distillate in this assemblage is aged for five years in barrels of limousine oak before being blended with a high percentage of older cognacs. * A mature powerful brandy with a floral-accented fruit aroma (rose linden blossoms, peach, plum) and a spicy, medium-heavy body.
XO
A cognac created ostensibly for purely private use, consisting of the oldest and noblest brandies of the house. Nursed for generations, Now shown the light of day the assemblage consists of distillates from the Grande and Petite Champagnes. * Fragile aroma with dry undertones and overtones of oak, chocolate and orange. Surprisingly light body fruit taste.

Answer: OK Paul,
25 Euro's or less! The best place to eat for that price is my favorite. VAL di SANGRO located at Via Alessandria 22-24, their phone number is 06 44 24 98 48. Try the veal it's great, the seafood very good too. For dessert, try the cakes. The owners name is Gesepipi. Tell him, Captain Cy sent you.

Question
from Don, from Billings, Montana: Captain Cy,
I'm 24 years old and love listening to you all the time. You have taught me so much about the good-life, anything from dressing well, to how to drink for the taste only. I hope you will do more podcast like the one with Ed McMahon. My dad has dvd's of the old Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Did you ever meet JFK and while do you have such a high reguard for a president who was in office so many years ago.
Best regard,
Don
Billings, Montana
Answer: Don-
Thanks for downloading and subcribing to Trends Taste and Travel. Yes I plan on doing more short speical podcasts in the future, time permitting of course.
To answer you question about John F. Kennedy, I believe he was the greatest presidents of my time. Why, because he thought out of the box? Space travel, civil rights, and the Peace Corps. to mention just a few. Life in this country was very different prior to JFK. I met him once in March of 1960. Download the Miami Podcast and you will hear all about it.
Thanks again for listening & Travel ala Grande,
Captain Cy

Question
from Bill:
Cy, I look forward to your radio show each Saturday. Having flown for 35 years(commercial private), I lost my medical 10 years ago and really miss the cockpit. My wife and I are taking a Greek Isle cruise, and Italy land tour in September.
Your comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated concerning things to do,see and EAT on our trip. I would also appreciate your candid opinion on safety for American tourist in these countries.
Our trip is divided into two phases:
Phase One is a three day Aegean Sea cruise from Athens to Mykonos, Rhodes, Patmos Greece and Kusadasi, Turkey. We spend 3 full days in, and around Athens.
Phase two includes a land tour in Italy with 3 days in Rome and overnight stays at the Isle of Capri (2 nights), On to Venice for 2days and the Isle of Burano {Seafood is recommended on the Isle). Then we motor to a Montecutini/Florence excursion. Day 10 brings us back to Rome by way of Tuscan Hills and Siena.
My wife is third generation Italian, and being her first trip to Italy, she is very excited. I am certain that your input will add volumes to our enjoyment on the trip.
Many Thanks, Captain Cy!
Answer: Dear Crewmember Bill, Yes it is true, I''m very busy flying to Europe and writting shows, however I always have time for my Crewmembers. Most of what you have asked for is on my web site. www.trendstasteandtravel.com. Here is a few pointers, go to the home page and carefully read travel tips. Next, read the facts on the Greek Islands, you will find it under travel features. Also you can listen to my shows on Italy under Show Log.
All of the destinations you have mentioned are very safe, the Greeks and the Italians are very friendly to Americans. Be sure to interface with them and learn the culture of different regions.
Hunt around the features page and you will find an article I wrote about Greek food as well.
And finally, last but not least, call into the show and share your trip with the Crewmembers of Trends Taste and Travel® and myself.
